Ready Set Grad is a website created by the Washington Student Achievement Council, to ensure every student in Washington State has access to the tools, information, and support they need to graduate high school and make college accessible and affordable. (Washington Student Achievement Council)

 

The site is a great resource for students grades 6 through adult to understand the steps necessary to earn a high school diploma and plan and pay for a post secondary education.  

 

We encourage all students to visit and utilize Ready Set Grad's resources. Stay up to date on grade level appropriate college planning by signing the Ready Set Grad pledge today!

 

Another great resource is Ready Set Grad's, Guide for Parents of Middle School Students designed to help middle school students and families prepare for college and career.

The College Bound Scholarship program is an early commitment of state financial aid to eligible 7th & 8th grade students who sign up in middle school and fulfill the College Bound Scholarship pledge.

 

The program encourages students who might not consider college because of the cost to dream big and continue their education beyond high school. (Washington Student Achievement Council, 2003)

Check-Out-a-College.Com is a website by the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges to help students learn about Washington State community and technical colleges and explore careers.

 

College Readiness

 

Middle school students are developing skills that will help them be successful when continuing their education in the future.  Some of these skills include: grit, communication, time managment, persistence, self advocacy, teamwork, dependability, critical thinking, and a willingness to try & learn new things.  There are many benefits to continuing your education after high school.  According to the Washington Student Achievement Council, college graduates live longer, healthier lives, are more likely to stay employed and enjoy their work, can change careers more easily, and earn $20,000 a year or more, on average, than high school graduates (ReadySetGrad.org).  Please utilize the resources below in planning for your future.
